Ask anyone who has lived a few years around Sturgis what the weather does, and you will get a consistent list: real winters with heavy, wet spring snows, wind that never fully quits on the open ground, and hail. Especially hail. The northeastern edge of the Black Hills sits in country where summer storms build over the Hills and drop stones on the prairie side, and every roofer in western South Dakota stays busy because of it. Is impact-rated roofing worth it on a Sturgis home?
